The Australian College of Audiology (ACAud) and the Hearing Aid Audiology Society of Australia (HAASA) are excited to announce our decision to amalgamate. This union represents a strong and strategic partnership to better serve and protect members, improve educational pathways, grow the workforce, and advocate for all hearing health clinicians.
Both organisations have recognised the need for greater infrastructure and resources in the face of a rapidly changing sector. With a shared vision for empowering and acknowledging the important role that audiometrists and audiologists play, we embark on this journey together to ensure sustainable growth and robust advocacy for our valued members.
ACAud recognises that HAASA is the longest established Practitioner Professional Body in the hearing health industry and has represented audiometrists since 1961. While embracing this new chapter, we are committed to honouring this rich history. The heart of HAASA will be preserved within the newly named Australian College of Audiology incorporating Hearing Aid Audiology Society of Australia, reflecting a deep respect for its legacy and contribution to the sector.
The transition will ensure a smooth integration of the two professional bodies, expanding our already significant capabilities and resources. Members will continue to receive practical and flexible support and opportunities for professional development with little interruption to their membership experience.
With common core values, and a shared vision for hearing health, a united ACAud and HAASA will continue to support clinicians to deliver improved communication outcomes for Australians with hearing difficulties.
